The mission at St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s College is an emphasis on all-round development, so that all pupils are well prepared for the wider world.
Situated at the gateway to the Sperrins, St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s College is a vibrant learning environment which continues to build upon its reputation as a successful, high achieving post Primary provider, developing pupils, academically, spiritually and socially, from both rural and urban communities.
Given the importance of role models in children’s lives, engaging with both parents, guardians and the wider community is of great importance to St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s. The college has worked hard to ensure that it is at the very heart of the community it serves. The strong links the college has developed gives the St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s pupils a sense of place and the college’s achievements and aspirations are bound by imagination only. Pupils thrive on the input and the incredible community support it receives.
Located in Claudy, St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s works closely with the two Primary schools in the village, St. Colmcille’s Primary School and Cumber Claudy Primary School. The college is extremely fortunate to have St. Patrick’s Church in close proximity and Fr David O’Kane has helped the school community brilliantly over the years. Claudy John Mitchel’s GAC continues to be a tremendous form of support as well The Diamond Centre. The college also enjoys great support from its parents and guardians, the Primary Educators. The college understands its role to build on the foundation of their work.
The mission at St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s College is an emphasis on all-round development, so that all pupils are well prepared for the wider world. There is a strong emphasis on cultural capital and there is a comprehensive sports programme which offers a variety of sports at all levels with highly successful teams. Government funding provides the college with the resources for day-to-day teaching and learning but it does not contribute towards the costs associated with the wide range of extra-curricular activities. The college is extremely thankful to the businesses who have invested in its teams and events over the last 60 years. It is hoped that the college and local businesses can continue to come together as a community to support each other in the future so that every single pupil has the same opportunity to be successful.
St. Patrick’s & St Brigid’s College values ‘service’ and strives to be an outward looking community. The college loves to hear from former pupils to learn about their successes in life.
