The Tower Museum
The Tower Museum is encouraging people all over the city and district to pick up a pen or pencil and get involved with National Drawing Day this month.
Together with dozens of museums, galleries, libraries and cultural organisations all over the island of Ireland, The Tower Museum will celebrate National Drawing Day on the 18th May 2024. This year the museum will be one of the co-hosts, alongside the National Gallery of Ireland, and will be opening its doors from 10:30am until 4pm on the day to everyone from artists, aspiring artists as well as individuals who just want to try a new hobby.
Betty Doherty, Education & Access Assistant of the Tower Museum, said: “We’re really excited to get involved with this year’s National Drawing Day and we are encouraging everyone of all ages and abilities to pick up their pencils or paintbrushes on Saturday 18th May and get creative in our Education Space. This is a day for everyone to enjoy and let their creative side out.
“There is such a positive connection between art and mental health – artistic activities such as drawing are therapeutic, lower stress levels and promote mental calmness. We are encouraging people of all ages and abilities to call into the Museum and take part in this one-day event.”
There will also be activities for the younger budding artists with arts and crafts for children, making it an event for all the family to get involved with.
This is a free drop-in event, so no need to book. Doors will be open from 10:30am until 4pm. Visitors are encouraged to use the hashtag #NationalDrawingDay when posting on social media and get inspired by other budding artists.
