CPR training
Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre is organising workshops about suicide prevention and emotional health.
The British Red Cross will conduct these workshops at InVOLve House in Magherafelt.
The general public and organisations can attend these free.
The organisation has five training sessions planned from May 30 to June 24.
The five workshops are aimed at people who want to improve their social skills and help around them.
On May 30, the workshop called ‘Supporting Connections’ will aim to develop skills to support mental health and learn how to help others manage loneliness and build connections.
Additionally, there will be a 'Basic First Aid Workshop' held on the same day. It will aim to improve first-aid knowledge and build confidence.
People attending the workshop will have the opportunity to practise hands-on techniques such as CPR, treating wounds and stabilising injuries.
At the beginning of June, a ‘Combined Adults & Children Safeguarding’ will take place. It will allow the participant to gain knowledge on how to safeguard children and adults.
On June 5, the training called ‘Good Governance Training’ will be aimed at people wanting to manage their teams more effectively.
Later on in June, an Emotional Health and Suicide Prevention workshop will take place designed for people in a caregiving role or for people with a responsibility to reduce emotional distress and prevent suicide. It aims to help anyone feeling distressed or having suicidal thoughts in various settings get the support they need to stay safe.
The ‘Combined Adults & Children Safeguarding’ is 25 pounds and the other four trainings are free to attend.
