St Patrick's & St Brigid's College, Claudy celebrates 60th anniversary with community at its core

St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s College will host the exhibition later this month.

St Patrick's and St Brigid's College in Claudy are hosting a 'Celebration of Arts' evening on Thursday, June 20 as part of their 60th anniversary celebrations.

Running from 3.45pm to 6.15pm, the event will include talks by former pupils Aoife Harvey, (Sustainable Fashion Designer and Winner of BBC NI's 'A Stitch through Time') and Leona Devine, Ceramic Artist (talks commence at 5.45pm).

The aim of the exhibition is to celebrate 60 years of 'the Arts' at the college. The event will include the work of pupils, past and present, and will mainly represent work from the Art and the Technology departments.

Ten of the school's current GCSE students will have their work on display. The work on show ranges from graphic design to fine art outcomes and it is based on the themes of either 'Structure' or 'Waste'.

Other work which will be on display will include that of former pupil Chelsea O'Kane whose work was recently exhibited as part of CCEA's 'True Colours' exhibition - an annual collection of the most impressive work produced across Northern Ireland in GCSE and GCE Art and Design.

The exhibition will also include a few portraits by the college's Art Teacher and practicing artist, Ryan Coyle.

Principal Philip McCullagh said: “As a college, we are very proud of the achievements of these practising artists, and we are delighted they are willing to take part in our celebration.

The event promises to be a great success and we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible on Thursday 20th June.”
