Fundraiser started to bring live music to Ebrington Square

Music Capital is aiming to raise £350,000 to put in place an annual three-day music festival in Ebrington Square.

It was recently reported that there would only be one event taking place in the venue this summer, a disappointing development shared by many within the Derry City and Strabane District Council.

And Music Capital is aiming ‘to breathe new life into a space that, for years to come, future generations will use and be proud of’.

Posting on social media Music Capital has set a target of £350,000 to establish a three-day festival for the summer of 2025.

The weekend festival proposed is aimed at appealing to all generations and age demographics with alternative, popular, and retro-themed nights.

Music Capital’s social media post on Facebook said: “With your help, we hope to attract one well-known performer to anchor the festival and have a mixture of current and heritage acts that will appeal to all.

“We hope that if our target fund is reached, to wash away all the negativity that has been surrounding Ebrington Square.”

They continued by stating that if the fundraising target of £350,000 is reached, any future funds generated from the festival will be invested back into producing an annual event in Ebrington Square.
