KFC Strand Road is open once again
Derry’s Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has reopened its doors after days of being mysteriously closed.
The popular Lesley Retail Park outlet on Strand Road shut its doors for a number of days, with its shutters firmly down and a closed sign on the front door.
There has been no explanation for the closure of the fast food restaurant or for the unavailability of online food orders through delivery platforms for both collection and delivery in the Derry branch during this closure period.
However, reassurance is here for customers who cannot get enough of Colonel Sanders’ herbs and spices.
A KFC spokesperson said: “Fear not, KFC fans of Derry! While we had to fly the coup for a couple of weeks, our Strand Road restaurant has re-opened, and the team are back at the fryers serving up our famously delicious fried chicken.”
Derry City and Strabane District Council had carried out a health inspection of the restaurant, with the council having no involvement in any decision made by the food business to temporarily close.
A spokesperson for Derry City and Strabane District Council said: “Our Environmental Health team recently carried out an inspection of the premises as part of its legal duty to enforce the Food Hygiene (NI) Regulations 2006 and the laws associated with them. The food rating allocated as a result of this inspection has been published on the Food Standards Agency website.”
