County Derry MMA fighter set for PFL Pay-Per-View fight in October

Paul Hughes

Lavey's Paul Hughes is the new Cage Warriors Featherweight champion.

County Derry’s Paul Hughes is the target of the Professional Fighters League (PFL) to be the first Pay-Per-View in October.

The Irish fighter is reported to be squaring off against former Bellator champion A.J. McKee on October 19.

The news of the bout was first reported by MagicM MMABets on X and later confirmed by MMA Fighting, which cited multiple sources.

Last week, the PFL announced the headline bout between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira, with Cris Cyborg and Larissa Pacheco as the co-main events.

Hughes comes into the fight on a winning streak of six in a row after his victory in June over Bobby King in a Bellator Champions Series event, giving him a record of (12-1).

His opponent, McKee (22-1), last fought in February when he submitted PFL standout Clay Collard at the PFL vs. Bellator event.

This will be the second fight for McKee since the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, with the fighter on a four-fight winning streak since his only professional loss to Patricio Freire in 2022.
