Aldi Ireland has announced that Derry entrepreneurial Irish food producers Shay and Marc Donley have won contracts as the shared overall winners of Grow With Aldi 2024.

As a result, the father and son's local business Macey’s Factory has secured a contract that will see their products stocked in all 162 Aldi stores nationwide.

The duo won alongside Wicklow and Cavan businesses, and all three local food producers will see their products on shelves across Ireland.

Aldi selected the winners following a nationwide call-out that saw emerging food and drinks producers form all over the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland apply to take part.

In May, 27 shortlisted finalists saw their products on sale in Aldi as part of a 'Specialbuy' pilot promotion.

The fan-favourite Derry duo came out on top with products including cinema-quality popcorn and candy floss.

Speaking about his win, Shay Donley of Macey’s Factory, said they were "over the moon" to be selected.

"At Macey’s Factory, we’re committed to delivering quality snacks that put a smile on people’s faces. We are so grateful to be given this opportunity to take our business to the next level and look forward to having ALDI customers all over Ireland discover our delicious popcorn & candy floss," Shay said.

Speaking about this year’s Grow with ALDI competition, Rachael O’Connor of ALDI, said the selecting panel were once again impressed by the finalists, adding that they are "proud to work with the likes of Macey’s Factory" as the Derry business "embodies what it means to be a true innovator in the food and drinks sphere".
