Derry have been drawn against the current reigning champions, Donegal, in the preliminary round of the Ulster championship.
This is the second successive season that the two counties will face off in their first game of the championship campaign, with Jim McGuinness' side having beaten Mickey Harte’s Derry at the quarter-final stage last year.
It will be a real test for whoever takes over from Harte as manager of the Oakleaf county, with the National League champions yet to appoint his successor after the Tyroneman abdicated the position in July.
The winners of the tie will play Monaghan in the quarter-final.
The winners of that quarter-final will play the winners of Fermanagh's hosting of Down in the semi-finals.
On the other side of the draw, All-Ireland champions Armagh will travel to Antrim in their quarter-final, while Tyrone host Cavan.
