Derry will have three representatives in the Ulster squad for the Allianz GAA Football Inter-Provincial Series.
Diarmuid Baker (Steelstown), Eoin McEvoy (Magherafelt), and Niall Toner (Lavey) have been selected as part of the 30-man squad.
A number of notable Derry names are absent from the squad, but this could be due to involvement in the Derry football championship semi-finals last week and final next week.
The National League champions are not the most represented county in the squad, with that honour going to the current All-Ireland champions, Armagh, with nine players including Paddy Burns, Oisín Conaty, Aidan Forker, and Rian and Oisín O’Neill.
Tyrone has seven players representing Ulster, a significant number, while there is at least one representative from each county.
Friday night will see Connacht face Leinster at 6pm, followed by the meeting of Ulster and Munster at 8pm. On Saturday, the opening match sees the two beaten teams from Friday night meeting at 5.30pm, followed by the clash of the two Friday night winners at 7.30pm.
The backdrop to the event is the trialling of the seven core enhancements put forward by the Football Review Committee and the subject of a special congress at the end of November.
Tickets are available from GAA. i.e., Friday night’s games will be shown live on TG4, and Saturday’s games will be shown live on RTÉ.
