Ballinascreen Historical Society has extended an invitation to the public to attend their local history day in November where the society will also be launching their new book.

The local history day and book launch will take place on Saturday 2 November from 10.45am.

People can meet at St Colm's High School and from there on the group will visit St Anne's Church. There will also be a historical walking tour of Draperstown where people can discover more about the history of the various buildings and businesses in the area.

The society will then launch their newest book Ballinascreen Church of Ireland (St Columba's & St Anne's) from 1808 at 3pm in St Columba's Church in Draperstown.

This latest book is the society's 50th publication to date. This book will definitely be one for local history enthusiasts as it provides a record of baptisms from 1808, marriages from 1825, and burials from 1824.

Anyone with an interest in tracing family history will be glad to know that the book is full of fascinating information including names, dates of births and baptisms, parents' names and professions, marriage dates, and even dates of deaths with burials, ages and names of the clergymen who officiated some of the ceremonies.

The book will be available to purchase on the day for £15.

Refreshments, book sales and book signings will follow the launch at 4pm in the Workspace Community Hub on 50 High Street.
