£250,000 fraud case involving Donegal woman adjourned at Derry Magistrate's Court

Derry Magistrate's Court

A man who was facing two counts of fraud by false representation has had his charges dismissed at Derry Magistrate's Court.

Paul Morrow (37) of St Jude's Parade in Belfast was charged with the offences that were alleged to have occurred on March 14 2021.

The court heard that the man used a card in a Strand Road off-licence to buy drink and get cashback on two occasions.

Subsequently the transactions did not go through.

Defence counsel for Morrow, Damien Halleron, said that the man had presented his card and tapped it something most of us do every day with no issue.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that there was no evidence that the card was stolen or that Morrow knew there was no money in the account .

He said there would have to be a dismissal in the case as there was 'simply no evidence '.
