The Ballindery players celebrate their historic win.

Ballinderry 1-12

Arva 2-8

Darren Lawn landed an historic winner as Ballinderry won the Ulster title following a dramatic finale on Saturday night in Omagh.

The Shamrocks were two points down at half time and after getting level were hit for a second Arva goal.

It was a goal from Shea McCann that turned a pulsating final again before Ballinderry found a way over the winning line with Lawn’s late score.

Arva came into the final on the back of a 23-game unbeaten run but it was Ballinderry who continued their unbeaten season.

Points from Shea Coleman, Charlie Crozier and Ryan Bell put the Shamrocks in front, 0-3 to 0-1, after 12 minutes.

A second Jonathan McCabe settled Arva before Barry Donnelly hit the net, slotting under Ben McKinless from a tight angle after a run in along the end line.

Shea McCann replied with a point for Ballinderry who had two goal chances denied. Cian O’Hara tipped over a Crozier chance with Tiernan Rocks hitting the bottom of the post.

Trailing 1-4 to 0-7 at the break, Ballinderry were soon level with points from Crozier and Ruairi Forbes before their net was building again.

After a wayward defensive pass, Kevin Bouchier and Barry Donnelly combined before Conal Sheridan’s goal put Arva back in front.

Crozier missed a goal chance instantly but Shea McCann made no mistake with his goal to level matters – 1-7 to 2-4 – after 40 minutes.

It was point for point with Ballinderry pushing ahead before O’Hara denied Ryan Bell a goal.

Ballinderry twice went ahead only for Bouchier to level twice before Lawn’s winning score.

James Morris had one last chance to force extra time but pulled his shot wide.

Arva got hands on the ball from the kick-out but goalkeeper Ben McKinless got a meaningful punch on a dangerous high ball and the Shamrocks held on for glory.
