A Derry man is set to release his third album in February.

Michael Mc Elroy announced that he will release Electric Ísland in less than three weeks on Valentines Day.

Currently living in Eglinton, Mc Elroy explained Iceland was the influence behind this latest album following a road trip he took to the island nation as he explained in a post to Instagram.

He said: “In 3 weeks time, I will be releasing my 3rd album - Electric Ísland.

“It’s my musical homage to the incredible country of Iceland.

“Iceland’s rugged and breathtaking scenery, its Earthquakes , Storms, Auroras and Volcanoes , its Architecture , Culture and People have always fascinated me, and on returning from my last visit in 2021, I began taking the first steps on the road to creating this tribute to all of the above.

“I’ve spent the last 3 years working on it, and on the 14th of February I’ll be releasing it in Reykjavik, where I hope to perform a few live sets as part of the album’s release.

“I must thank Jonny Delaney for his incredible work and support throughout this project .

“His push and drive has been invaluable.

“Also, to Kevin Smith and Elin Svedros, who quite literally took me on a journey to places I otherwise may never have experienced in Iceland 3 years ago.

“That road trip was the inspiration for several tracks on Electric Ísland.”

This album follows on from his previous releases including Aviating and Time and Tide.

The City of Derry Air Traffic Control Officer will hope to see a large crowd for the release of the album on February 14 in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik.
