The rural way of life.
On the evening of Tuesday, February 4, Ballinascreen Historical Society members and friends are invited to an event which will rekindle many distant memories of the rural way of life.
Bronagh McAtasney is Access and Outreach Officer with NI Screen and she will share some gems from the NI Digital Film Archive. The archive is an absolutely invaluable resource that contains amateur and professional films dating from as early as 1897 to the present.
On the evening, Bronagh’s presentation will include films that tell stories of how we used to farm and work, along with some films of the Ballinascreen and Draperstown area – with a few quirky scenes from the past.
The films will be on old farming including ploughing and old tractors, marts and agricultural shows. There’ll be some film of the area and the people who lived there; some old stories and a few funny clips too. She will also explain how everyone can access the archive from home to find out about their local heritage.
The meeting starts at 8pm in the Workspace Community Hub in Draperstown and, as usual, is open to everyone.
The evening will conclude with a very brief AGM, followed by the usual light refreshments.
