Trent Kone-Doherty made his first-team debut today.
Trent Kone-Doherty made his debut with Liverpool's first team today, but the game ended in an F.A Cup shock for the Premier League leaders, who bowed out of the competition to Plymouth.
The 18-year-old came on as a substitute on 76 minutes, replacing Treymaurice Nyoni, with an understrength Liverpool trailing 1-0 to the Championship side.
Kone-Doherty, who signed for Liverpool from Derry City in July 2022, has been in manager Arne Slot's thoughts in recent weeks, and was recently included in the 21-man squad to face PSV Eindhoven in the league phase of the Champions League.
This was only the fourth time in the history of the F.A Cup that a team top of the Premier League has been eliminated by a team outside the top flight, and while Liverpool fans will be eager to forget it as they chase a second Premier League title, it will be long-remembered by the family of Kone-Doherty, who will now hope to be a part of the squad for the midweek Merseyside derby game against Everton at Goodison Park.
