St Canice's GAC Dungiven to hold weekend of St Patrick themed events

An underage disco, street parade and traditional music are among the events being organised to mark the feast of St Patrick

St Canice's GAC Dungiven to host River Roe Rhythm Fest

A series of events will be held in the Dungiven club to mark St Patrick's Day.

Various St Patrick themed events will take place this weekend at St Canice's GAC, Dungiven.

Kicking off the celebrations on Friday, March 14 will be an underage disco in the top hall from 6pm to 8pm. There will be lots of spot prizes up for grabs on the evening.

Continuing with the St Patrick theme on Saturday, March 15, a big breakfast will be held between 10am and 12.30pm while underage games will take place between 11am and 1.30pm in Páirc Uí Cathain.

A street parade has been planned to take place in the town from 2pm on Saturday with spot prizes for the best costumes and floats.

The parade will begin at Gaelcholáiste Dhoire and all community groups, schools, clubs and teams are welcome to participate.

Following the parade, fun activities will take place in the club carpark/ pitch from 3pm to 6pm. This will include comhaltas music, dancing, Kick/Poc Fada, bouncy castles, face painting, balloon modelling, themed mascots and tug of war. There will also be an ice cream van and candy floss for sale.

The evening will be rounded off with some traditional music in the club between 6pm and 10pm.
