Foyle College close school as a mark of respect for teacher that sadly passed away

Foyle College announced they will be closed on March 20 as a mark of respect following the passing of a teacher at the school.

Mrs Jayne Kane sadly passed away on March 17, peacefully at the MacMillan Unit Antrim Hospital.

Jayne was a dearly loved by her husband Richard and was a devoted mother of Andrew, Sam and William, beloved daughter of Robert and Iris much loved sister of Julie-Anne, sister in law of Sam, Joanne, Sadie, Alan and Heather and a very dear aunt of Ellen and Lily (Jamison), Dayle, Josh and Owen (Nicholl), Ellen and Jodie (Nicholl), Holly and Alfie (Kane) and Charlie and Casey (Connolly).

Foyle College took to Facebook to pay tribute and remember an ‘integral member’ of the school ‘family’.

They said: “Mrs Jayne Kane joined Foyle College as a permanent member of staff in 2007 and quickly became an integral member of our Foyle College family, where she was admired and respected by staff and students alike. She was proud to teach in Foyle College, her mother’s alma mater, and hold the role of Head of Art and Design.

“Jayne was committed to getting the very best out of every Art and Design student and her creativity and passion for her subject inspired pupils, past and present. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jayne’s husband Richard, their three children Andrew, Sam and William, and her extended family and friends. 

“Jayne will be very much missed within our College community, and we will continue to hold her in our thoughts and prayers. As a mark of respect, Foyle College will be closed tomorrow, the day of Jayne’s funeral.”
