Steptoe & Son Cattle Productions will be coming to Coleraine in May
Stage Production company Cattle Productions Ltd is bringing their new show to a County Derry theatre in aid of charity Community Rescue Service.
The show is an adaptation of the original episodes of the classic BBC television series. The stage show will be brought to life by a brand-new production, from Director Dan Lewis.
Dan has spoken about what the audience can expect saying: “The show will have many hugely funny moments and we hope we’re going to make the original writers, actors and programme, very proud! So far our audiences, who are attending in their hundreds, are loving it and we’d love for you to join us too! All the cast members have extensive acting ability and we have some award winners amongst us too! You're guaranteed to enjoy our professional performance - we're told we sound exactly like the original actors!
“You wouldn’t think it was possible for this ‘rag and boning’ duo to still be at it after all this time, but here they are! Albert is still a dirty old man and Harold is as pretentious as ever! Come and join Steptoe & Son for all the hilarious conflict that our four classic episodes have to offer! See your favourite moments from the smash hit BBC television series, being performed for you live on stage – just make sure you don’t step in a present from Hercules the horse on your way in…”
Steptoe and Son was first seen on our screens in 1962, running for eight series and 57 episodes, ending in 1974. It starred the wonderful Harry H. Corbett and Wilfred Brambell, as the warring father and son, trying to cope with their ailing business and having to put up with each other along the way.
Dan said: “It was an easy decision to pick Steptoe and Son to take on tour, as the constant conflict comedy makes for lots and lots of laughs!”
As well as providing laughs the show will be supporting charity Community Rescue Service.
Speaking on the company’s charity work Dan said: “Our performances always support a local charity with every show we do and so far we've raised nearly £20,000 for many wonderful charities across the UK, so you get to have a laugh and it's all for a good cause too! The Community Rescue Service provides a vital service for the community, helping people in danger and keeping people safe.”
You can catch the show at the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine on May 29 from 8pm to 10pm.
The Age Rating is 12+ and tickets are £20 each.
Tickets are available via steptoeandsontour.co.uk or from the Riverside Theatre Box Office (riversidetheatre.org.uk / 02870 123123).
