Mid Ulster District Council have announced that Lough Fea foot bridge has reopened to the public.

The foot bridge connecting the pathways at the north end of Lough Fea, Cookstown closed in April 2024 for essential structural maintenance.

Announcing its reopening on Facebook, the council stated: “The foot bridge connecting the pathways at the north end of Lough Fea, Cookstown is now open following essential structural maintenance. The opening means the circular route around the lough is possible once again.

“We would like to thank everyone, and especially regular users of the Lough walks, for their patience while the bridge was made safe and secure for many years to come.”

The beauty spot is popular with walkers from throughout Mid Ulster and further afield and many have shared their joy on the reopening of the walkway.

“Isn’t that wonderful. Well done. It’s such a beautiful area,” said one walker.

“Great to see this” and “Brilliant,” added others.
