The Thomas Burke Perpetual Cup (Burkey Cup) will get underway on Tuesday, May 6 when holders Trojans take on newcomers to the competition, Ballymac Celtic.

This is the fifth year of the tournament, played in memory of Thomas, a much loved former Trojans player and coach who tragically passed away aged just 29. Thomas is much missed by everyone at the club but above all by his family, parents Linda and Thomas and sister, Rachel, wife Bronagh and twins Adam and Aoife.

Other businesses who have contributed to the running costs include Cooleys Jewellers Extreme Bounce and Elite, James McDermott Joinery, Citypaints, and Mouldings Direct. Prize money this year is Winners £1,000, Runners-up £500 and £250 each to the beaten semi-finalists. All games will be played at Oakland Park with a 6.45pm ko on weekdays and 2.00pm on Saturdays.

The full schedule of fixtures is as follows:- Tuesday 6th May, Trojans v Ballymac Celtic; Saturday 10th May, Phoenix Athletic v Northcoast Utd; Monday 12th May, Lisahally v Foyle Harps; Wednesday 14th May, Creggan Swifts v Rosemount.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday 17th and Monday, the 19th May. The final will take place on Saturday 24th with a 2.00pm ko.

Entry to the ground is free. However, a voluntary donation collection will take place during games with proceeds going to a local charity. Come along and support the only eleven a side summer cup competition currently operating in the Derry area.
