East Derry SDLP MLA Cara Hunter shared the news of her recent marriage on social media.

The 29-year-old confirmed her marriage to her partner Peter Eastwood on social media saying “The votes are in…we said yes. #LandslideVictory”

First Minister Michelle O’Neill was among those who offered her congratulations saying “Comhghairdeas (Congratulations) to you both.”

Cara gave thanks by sharing a picture of the newlyweds on the altar saying “God has blessed me beyond measure in this life.”

The East Derry representative looked stunning in an embellished gown from London company Amore Bridal.

Cara and Peter celebrated their intimate wedding in the hills of Donegal surrounded by their family and friends.

The gorgeous photographs from the day were captured by North Coast Photographer Forever Social Weddings.

Ms Hunter has been an MLA since 2020, when she was co-opted to replace the late John Dallat, becoming the youngest elected female politician in Northern Ireland.

She is currently the SDLP’s spokesperson on mental health and education and is a member of the Assembly’s Education Committee.

Cara recently shared she will be taking a short break from social media and politics to enjoy her honeymoon.
