Sr. Carmel (Bridgie Guinan), Derry

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sr. Carmel (Bridgie Guinan), daughter of the late Terence and Nora, formerly of Rathcabbin, Co. Tipperary. Peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Daleview Nursing Home, Derry on September 12 2025. Beloved sister of the late Lil Brennan, Maggie Kelly, Sr. Pius (Kathleen) RSM, John, Tessie McAuliffe, Paddy and Sr. Marie Therese (Celine) OCD. Deeply regretted by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and a wide circle of relatives and friends. Sorely missed by her sorrowing community of Good Shepherd Sisters in Derry and throughout Ireland. Sr. Carmel’s remains will be reposing at the Good Shepherd Convent Oratory, 38 Dungiven Road. Her remains will leave the Convent Oratory on Sunday, September 14 at 5.15pm for 5.30pm arrival to St. Columb’s Church, Chapel Road to repose overnight. Sr. Carmel’s Requiem Mass will then take place on Monday, September 15 at 10am. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ardmore. Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/WatersideParish. May Jesus the Good Shepherd bring her safely home.

Martin Flowers, 33 Lower Bennett Street, Derry

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Flowers, peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital on September 12 2025. Late of 33 Lower Bennett Street. May he rest in peace. Beloved son of the late Kathleen. Devoted and loving brother of Geraldine. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle and friends. Martin’s remains will be reposing at his late home, 33 Lower Bennett Street. Funeral leaving from there on Monday, September 15 at 9:20am for 10.00am Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Longtower. Charlie Harkin, Cheltenham, England (Formerly of 56 Deanery Street, Derry)

The death has taken place of Charlie Harkin, June 18 2025, peacefully at his home in Cheltenham, England, CHARLIE, (formerly of 56 Deanery Street), beloved husband of Carol, loving father of Scott, Natasha and Keely, devoted grandfather of Mitchell, Freya, Ciaron, Olivia, DerryRose and Darcey, father-in-law to Kate, Jaimer and Saunds, dear son of the late Johnny and Rosie Harkin, cherished brother of Dom, Seamus, Rosaleen, Marie and the late John, Annie, Billy, Bobby, Hughie, Pat, Margaret and Celine. Charlie’s Requiem Mass will take place in St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower on Tuesday, September 16 at 10:00am. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart Of Jesus have mercy on his soul. Our Lady Of Lourdes intercede for him.

Ruby Montgomery (née Cochrane), 3 Boyne Row, Upperlands

The death has taken place of the late Ruby Montgomery (née Cochrane), September 13 2025, (peacefully) at her home, 3 Boyne Row, Upperlands, (in her 102nd year), dearly beloved Wife of the late Johnny, cherished Sister of the late Emma, Willie, Noel, Mabel and Hans and much loved Aunt of Sybil, Muriel, Lawrence, Janice, Christine, Helen, Mark, David, Brian and Wilson. Funeral and wake arrangements later. Family flowers only please. We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Patsy Murphy peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital on September 12  2025. May he rest in peace. Late of 33 Glenedra Road, Coolnamonan, Feeny, Co Derry. Beloved husband of Margaret (née Harran). Loving father of Frankie (Mary Teresa). Damian (Caroline), Dympna (Gary), Canice (Wilma) Michael (Sheila) and Kevin (Nuala).A devoted grandfather and great grandfather. Son of the late Francie and Mary Jane R.I.P and loving brother of the late George and William Bernard R.I.P. Reposing at his late home. Family time 10.00pm to 11.00am. Desmond O'Hara, Thetford, Norfolk (Formerly Magilligan)

The death has occurred of the late Desmond O'Hara (R.I.P), died peacefully in hospital (Thetford, Norfolk and formerly of Magilligan) on Thursday, September 11 2025. Beloved husband of Margaret, father of Shaun & Liam (Emma). A devoted grandfather to his many grandchildren. Son of the late Alex & Mary-Alice Deeney (The Mill, Duncrun) and brother to Vincent, Brian, Henry, Dermot, Cormac, Martin and the late Cecil, Kathleen & Aidan. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife, sons, daughter in law, grandchildren, brothers and the entire family circle.
