28-year-old man charged to court following Derry assault

A 28-year-old man arrested by detectives investigating an assault in the John Street area of Derry on Friday evening has been charged.

He is due to appear before Derry Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, October 22 charged with grievous bodily harm and affray.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

On Friday afternoon police received a report that a man had been assaulted by at least two men. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries to his head.

Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone who was in the area on Friday afternoon from 4.00pm to 6.00pm and who may have witnessed any assault or anyone who has any information in relation to the incidents to contact 101 quoting reference number CW 1018 - 26/09/25.
