Prize Day 2025 was held recently in Limavady Grammar School. It was an occasion to recognise talent and celebrate the impressive achievements of the pupils.

Past pupil Ms. Amy Dalton, a Fintech Growth Hunter and Innovation Manager at Euroclear in Brussels was the chief guest.

It was an honour for those present to listen to Amy’s inspirational address and recognise the outstanding achievement of our pupils.

2025 was a year of impressive set of results in LGS which exceeded the NI average yet again. 89% of all grades awarded at A2 were A* – C, whilst an outstanding 37% of all grades were awarded at the A*/A grade level.

Top students, achieving 3 or more A or A* grades for this year were: Joshua Hunt, Callum Smith, Ruby Armstrong, Boyd O’Neill, Emma Alcorn, Izzy Blair, Dylan Bond, Joel Osbourne, Sophie Butcher, Emma McCurry, Olivia Mornin, Rudy Mullan, Kacper Szubski, Mackenzie Guthrie, Rachel Steele, Adam Thompson,  Annie Robinson. Joshua Hunt was the top  student achieving 4 A* Grades.

At GCSE level, Mrs Madden commended the  pupils on their hard work and determination in spite of the many challenges they have faced during their 5 years in school.  These GCSE results reflect consistently high attainment and a further improvement on the high grades from 2024, with almost 50% of all students achieving 5 or more A*/A grades and a 100% pass rate across all subjects.

Many students have not only met but exceeded their personal targets, paving the way for their continued academic journey into A-Level and beyond. A remarkable 33 students achieved at least 7 A*/A grades with top achievers Zach McCahon and Ashwitha Sunny each achieving 9 A* grades.

This year’s GCSE outcomes are a true testament to the perseverance and resilience demonstrated by the students, particularly in navigating their studies amidst a challenging educational landscape.

Mrs Madden reflected on the achievements of the past year.

“Our A level and GCSE results are testament to the hard work and commitment of our pupils and staff and the support of our parents. We are a school where expectations and standards are high, but where pupils are provided with the support and tools to excel.

“We were delighted to be awarded the Investors in Mental Health Gold Award last year in recognition of the vast range of programmes that we have in place to support our students.

Academic achievement is a priority for us, but our school is defined by much more than exam results - and that’s what truly sets us apart. At the heart of our school motto is the value of 'caring'.

“This ethos is lived out daily, supported by a range of structures and dedicated teams that ensure our pupils receive the help they need, when they need it. A strong sense of belonging and teamwork is fostered through the many extracurricular activities available. When students feel included, valued, and part of something meaningful, they thrive — both personally and academically.

“We believe excellence in education means doing everything possible to help our students become the best version of themselves. Our students benefit from an education that challenges, inspires, and empowers them to pursue their goals with confidence.”

Mrs Madden provided an outline of the achievements of the students in both their academic work and extracurricular activities. She expressed her immense pride in the school and thanked the staff, Board of Governors, volunteers and Parents’ Association for their continued support and hard work.
