Alison Torrens from Portstewart has donated beautiful artwork and a very generous donation to vital head and neck research at NWCC.
Portstewart woman Alison Torrens has donated beautiful artwork to the North West Cancer Centre (NWCC) at Altnagelvin Hospital.
The County Derry woman has also made a very generous donation to vital head and neck research at NWCC.
Ms Torrens was diagnosed with a very rare, incurable cancer in 2016 and explained how medical research has given her “more years to live” and this is why she is so passionate about research and is encouraging others to participate in it, if given the opportunity.
Ms Torrens said: “I am so grateful to the incredible care and compassion that has been provided to me by the Trust’s Professor David Stewart, Dr Ahmed Bedair, the wider Oncology team and my ENT Consultant Mr Greg McBride, for giving me so much of their precious time and providing me with quality of life. Many others have been involved in my journey as well and I hope that through continued medical research I would like the incurable to become curable.”
