Evolve, the network operator delivering gas infrastructure across the west of Northern Ireland, has reached an exciting milestone by connecting its 5,000th customer just five years after the network officially went live in 2020.

This milestone comes despite the challenges of a global pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, underlining the strong demand from households for reliable, efficient and affordable energy. Consumers have continued to vote with their feet, choosing the long-term comfort and value of gas.

Joining the many thousands of households already connected, Marissa McGuckin from Magherafelt is one of the latest residents to experience the advantages of Evolve's growing network.

She said: “It’s great to be joining the network at a time when Evolve is marking such an important milestone, and our experience so far has been really positive. The heating responds quickly, the hot water is always there when we need it, and the whole system feels much more efficient than what we had before. The process was straightforward from start to finish, and we’re already noticing how much more comfortable and convenient the house feels.”

David Butler, Director of Evolve, said: “Reaching 5,000 connections in the west of Northern Ireland is a proud and powerful milestone not just for Evolve, but for every household that has chosen to embrace cleaner, more efficient energy. This achievement stands as a clear testament to the growing appetite for sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.

“It reflects the hard work and vision of our entire team, and our commitment to supporting the Northern Ireland Energy Strategy. We appreciate every customer who has chosen to make the switch with us, and we remain focused on expanding our network and connecting more homes and businesses to support progress across the region.”

More information about upgrading to gas and the financial incentives available, including fully funded grants and cashback schemes through the government backed Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme scheme, can be found at Evolve Network.
