Derry Court
A person who was released on bail on Monday by the High Court on condition they stay out of the city side of Derry and not be intoxicated in public appeared at the local Magistrate's Court charged with breaching bail.
Jamie Devine (22) of Fountain Hill in Derry accepted the bail breach that occurred on November 12.
A police officer told the court that police were alerted by city centre CCTV operators to an ongoing fight in the Sackville Street area.
When police arrived they did not find any fight but saw the defendant who was behaving in 'an erratic manner'.
Devine tried to climb up a metal fence and when police approached there was a strong smell of alcohol and the defendant was slurring their speech.
When police attempted to take a breath test Devine refused and was arrested for the alcohol breach and being in the cityside.
The police officer told the court that in the last 18 months Devine had 15 breaches of bail.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that while Devine was only released on bail on Monday they had re-engaged with probation.
The solicitor said his client had 'a poor bail history' but in this case there were no new offences.
Devine was re-released on bail to appear again on November 20.
