A woman who had been found guilty of manslaughter after stabbing her partner was today convicted of assaulting him some months before his death.
Shauna Louise Pyper (46) of Primity Terrace in Newbuildings outside Derry had been convicted of the manslaughter of her partner after a trial after originally being charged with his murder on June 8 2020.
She was sentenced to five years in prison on February 10 2023.
She appeared today charged with assaulting the deceased on March 14 2020.
After a contest in which a number of police officers gave evidence, the accused and body worn footage was also shown as the injured party was deceased District Judge Conor Heaney convicted Pyper.
He said after 'careful consideration' of the evidence he had found the body worn footage 'credible and reliable' and convicted the defendant.
Defence counsel Andrew Moriarty said that this was a case in 'very tragic and sad circumstances'.
Judge Heaney sentenced Pyper to a conditional discharge for a period of 12 months.
