Dungiven's Christmas Lights switch-on takes places this weekend.

This weekend will see a number of exciting events taking place in Dungiven to kick off the festive season.

The Christmas lights switch-on will be held on Saturday, November 29 with lots of events taking place in the run-up to the main event.

A Christmas family fun day with Christmas card making will be held in the library at Main Street from 11am to 1.30pm.

There will also be lots to keep the kids entertained outside with an inflatable slide and dancing disco dome in the Main Street carpark from 12noon while festive characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Stitch and The Grinch will be in attendance on the day.

Former X Factor star and Dungiven native Eoghan Quigg will provide live entertainment in the carpark from 2pm to 4pm.

A Christmas market will also be held in Gaelcholáiste Dhoire’s new sports hall on Saturday from 12noon to 3pm.

There will be over 20 market stalls selling Irish language goods, arts and crafts, Christmas cards, decorations, hot food and baked goods.

There will also be plenty of craic and entertainment for all the family with Santa Claus paying a visit, storytelling sessions for kids and live music.

The Christmas parade will leave St Canice’s GAC at 4.30pm and will travel to the Main Street carpark where the lights switch-on will be held at 5pm.

Throughout the day local businesses on the Main Street will be offering discounts while Morelli’s will be selling hot drinks priced from £1.
