Eglinton residents urged to help shape future community initiatives

Apex delivers good relations initiatives across its ‘Housing for All’ shared housing areas

EGLINTON VILLAGE 2

The Eglinton Advisory Group, in partnership with Apex Housing Association (Apex), is calling on local residents, community representatives, and volunteers to help shape the future of community-focused good relations initiatives in the area.

The advisory group plays a vital role in promoting inclusion, understanding, and positive relationships within the Eglinton area, and is welcoming new members and ideas at its December meeting in Eglinton Community Hall.

Apex delivers good relations initiatives across its ‘Housing for All’ shared housing areas, including Eglinton, to help residents build connections and feel part of a positive, welcoming community. These initiatives are designed to encourage a range of good relations outcomes which include health and wellbeing, arts and culture, education and training.

Warren Kerr, Good Relations Officer at Apex explains: “This is an opportunity for people who care about their community to make a real difference. By joining the advisory group, community workers and volunteers can help influence projects that strengthen community ties and create meaningful change.”

The next meeting will take place on Thursday, December 11 2025, in Eglinton Community Hall at 1.00pm. Everyone with an interest in building a stronger, more connected community is encouraged to attend.

The advisory group is supported by the Department for Communities (DfC) and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive’s ‘Housing for All’ Shared Housing Programme.

The Programme has its origins in the NI Executive Together: Building a United Community Strategy which reflects the Executive’s commitment to improving community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society. Up to £1.1 million will be invested in Tygore Park in Eglinton to deliver the homes and contribute to the area’s good relations plan.
