A 31-year-old man arrested after a police officer sustained a serious hand injury in Derry on Saturday, November 29 in the Galliagh Park area has been charged to court.

He has been charged with obstructing police, resisting police, disorderly behaviour and common assault.

Other charges include criminal damage, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and non-fatal strangulation or asphyxiation.

The man is due to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court this morning, Monday, December 1.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
