A man currently on bail for rioting was charged with breaching his bail by being within 100 metres of a police operation by being in the city centre on Saturday during the Apprentice Boys march.

Darrell Ramsey (31) of Rathlin Drive in Derry is charged with riotous behaviour at Nailor's Row on June 17 this year.

He was breached after he was observed in Ferryquay Street after the Apprentice Boys march and one of his bail conditions is that he is not within one hundred metres of a police operation.

A police officer said that they weren't objecting to Ramsey being re-released on bail.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that Ramsey had been in the city centre on Saturday as the march was taking place and added 'it is impossible not to be within 100 metres of a police operation during the Apprentice Boys march'.

District Judge Oonagh Mullan said she would re-release Ramsey on bail on the same conditions but warned him that any further breach could result in him going into custody.

Ramsey will appear again on January 22.
