Councillor Archibald has welcomed the budget allocation of £29.8 million for new social homes.
Sinn Féin councillor Niamh Archibald has welcomed today's budget allocation of £29.8 million for new social homes.
The Coleraine councillor said: "I welcome today's announcement of an additional budget allocation of £29.8 million by the Finance Minister for new social homes. This reiterates Sinn Féin's commitment to social housing and builds on the Finance Minister's additional allocation of £24 million that was delivered during the October monitoring last year which helped to deliver 1,400 homes.
“This latest allocation will ensure the delivery of an additional 615 social homes this year, bringing the total new social housing starts to 1,750 this year.
“This funding is a vital step in tackling the housing crisis and supporting families in need.
“At a time when the social housing waiting list is the highest it's ever been, building new social homes must be prioritised if we are to meet the current level of demand.
“Sinn Féin is committed to building more social and affordable homes across the island.”
