Suspended sentence for Donegal man at Derry Magistrate's Court

The man appeared before Derry Magistrates' Court

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court today where he admitted importing a weapon namely a flick knife but said he was unaware of what it was.
Steven Millar (57) of Ebrington Park in Derry appeared representing himself where he pleaded guilty to one charge of importing a weapon namely a flick knife on June 14, 2025.
The court was told that Border Force intercepted a parcel addressed to the defendant and found it contained a flick knife.
Millar told the court that he had ordered the knife thinking it was a wood carving tool and was unaware it was a flick knife.
He said if he had received the parcel and realised what it was he would have handed it in to police.
District Judge Oonagh Mullan said the offence seemed to have been a genuine mistake and fined Millar £50.
