Lawrence Moore appointed as Derry City's first full-time Football Social Responsibility Officer

Derry City FC have announced the appointment of long-time volunteer Lawrence Moore to a new, full-time position as the club’s Football Social Responsibility (FSR) Officer.

Moore, who has served as the club’s esteemed Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the past nine years, will continue to hold the PRO title while taking on the expanded responsibilities of the FSR role.

As FSR Officer, he will also now oversee the development and implementation of the club’s Social and Environmental Sustainability Strategy; focusing on initiatives that deepen community engagement, create positive social impact and acknowledge our climate responsibilities.

Club Chief Financial Officer, Calum Divin, welcomed the appointment, saying: “We are all delighted to have Lawrence on board in this new capacity. He is incredibly well thought of by all at the club, and we look forward to working with him as he steps into this important role”.

“Building on what has already been done in recent times, this appointment is a commitment by the club to strengthen the role it has in the community”.

Lawrence Moore, speaking on his new role, said: “I’m delighted to be joining the staff at the club, having spent most of the past 30 years in various volunteering roles.

” I was entrusted with the PRO role in 2017 and that has given me the opportunity to develop relationships not just within the League of Ireland, but across a wide array of other sporting and community bodies as well.

“The FSR programme has become a huge part of club life generally, and Derry City FC is keen to show our committment to that process.

‘I’m very happy that this post will allow me to combine both roles, and continue to be part of the club’s excellent PR and media team.

“I’m looking forward to getting started in the coming weeks.”
