Derry Magistrates' Court
A man who solicitor said 'was not the first person to fall foul of dry January' has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court today for breaching the alcohol condition of his bail.
Matthew McCloskey (27) of Lawrence Hill in Derry was charged with breaching his alcohol condition by giving a reading of 41mgs in breath.
The legal limit it for driving is 35mgs.
A police officer told the court that not only had he been over the limit when stopped he had been carrying a bottle of vodka.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that his client had fallen foul of dry January but added that police would be agreeable to bail on the same terms.
McCloskey was re-released on bail to appear later this month.
