Derry Magistrate's Court
A woman who assaulted two people who came to her assistance told Derry Magistrate's Court today that 'I act first and think later'.
Amanda Hegarty (38) of no fixed abode admitted two assaults and a charge of criminal damage to a door that occurred on October 31 last.
An earlier court heard that a woman went to help Hegarty and she grabbed her by the hair and when a man then came to help she grabbed him by the throat.
When Hegarty was told she was no longer welcome at the B&B she kicked at the door.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that Hegarty has mental health issues and had a support package in place for when she would be released.

Hegarty was asked by District Judge Oonagh Mullan as to why she had accumulated 44 previous convictions the defendant said she was 'impulsive'.
Hegarty was sentenced to 12 months probation.
