Derry Court
A man has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today for assaulting a female and threatening to 'burn out' a flat.
Ryan Finlay (37) of Aughlish Court in Derry admitted a charge of assault and one of threatening to damage property on July 26 last year.
The court heard that a woman reported that she was in a shop and Finlay approached and started shouting at her.
He then squared up to her pushing his chest out and told her he would get her granddaughter taken from her and burn out her flat.
As the woman tried to get away Finlay slapped her on the side of the head.

The woman said that she knew the defendant 'from years ago' but had no idea why he would assault her.
