Benbradagh sheep farmer to feature on new BBC podcast!

Your Place And Mine’s Eve Blair brings farming background to foreground for podcast series

Presenter Eve Blair will take listeners into the heart of rural life as she meets farmers and families from across Northern Ireland in the new farming podcast Your Farm And Mine.

The podcast, from the team behind Your Place And Mine on BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle, will also feature some well-known voices in the farming community, including Lorraine Killen and Farm Theory's Andrew Wright.

Eve says: “I grew up on a family farm in County Tyrone and my brother and dad still work on it. I know how many hands - and how many hearts - it takes. So I want to bring all the fun and all the graft of farm life to our listeners.”

In the series, audiences will hear a diverse range of stories from farms and farmers from across Northern Ireland.

At the Moore farm just outside Castlederg, Eve hears how one of their cows birthed five calves, with the odds of this happening several million to one.

At the Kelly family farm at Ballyalton, County Down, Eve learns how an owl colony is thriving. They are one of Northern Ireland's rarest birds, with fewer than 30 breeding pairs in the country.

In Benbradagh, County Derry, sheep farmer Alwyn McFarlane shares how vital his sheepdog Moss is to the farm, doing the job of several men all on his own.

County Tyrone farmer Joel Kerr, known as the Curious Farmer on social media, chats with Eve about how he juggles his work looking after shorthorn cattle, caring for chickens, and working on his pie business.

And at Millbank Farm in County Down, Eve meets sixth generation farmer Emily McGowan. They have farmed the same land in Killinchy since 1889, rearing sheep, broiler chickens and Highland cows, as well growing seasonal flowers for summer events and running a popular farm shop.

Eve also visits Grove Dairy in Castlederg, County Tyone, where John Mitchell milks over 700 cows with the help of robotic milking machines, and knows every cow by name.

Your Farm And Mine is available on BBC Sounds from Friday 27 February 2026.
