Derry City and Strabane District councillor Christopher Jackson (Sinn Féin) has slammed "the US and Israeli attacks on Iran".
Cllr Jackson described them as "an outrageous violation of the United Nations Charter and the multilateral system".
“These attacks by the US and Israel do nothing but bring the threat of wider conflict in the Middle East closer," he said.
“In the midst of ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran, these attacks are outrageous violations of the United Nations Charter and the multilateral system," added Cllr Jackson.
“This escalation must be condemned and the attacks should end immediately while a return to negotiations must be a priority.”
“Many people from here will be deeply worried about their loved ones living in the Middle East.
“I would encourage anyone concerned who is living abroad or has families overseas to contact the Irish or British Embassies for assistance.”
