‘Marching into the Blues’ Hits the Right Note in Limavady!

Limavady is gearing up for the second year of the Marching into the Blues’ festival, with a notable line-up already confirmed for the annual blues, rock and swing gig.

The highly anticipated event, now firmly established as a highlight on the local music calendar, will take place on Saturday, March 7, at The Crown Bar in Limavady, kicking off at 4pm.

Music fans can look forward to performances from Callum Norris, Indigo Joe Band, Back Bone Blues Band featuring Jarlath Mullholland, and The Whisky Flowers.

Event organiser and local music enthusiast Roger Robinson shared his passion for bringing live music to the town, explaining why hosting events like this holds such special significance for him:

“The 7th March event is coming up soon and we want to get the word out there!

“We do this just for the love of music and if there is any money left over after our costs have been met, we send this to charity which is the Olive Branch this year.

“I just want people to come together and see music again; it is just about getting live music back in our towns and villages!

“We created the Castaway Events website recently to promote all music events and I think with the Whisky Flowers nominated in the top 5 in the UK for Blues award and The Backbone Blues Band with Jarlath Mulholland on sax, it’s top notch entertainment all for £15!”

Limavady’s music scene appeared to be alive and buzzing as fans packed into The Crown Bar on Saturday, March 1 for the 2025 ‘Marching into the Blues’.

Music lovers enjoyed a full day of live performances last March celebrating the legacy of the town’s Danny Boy Jazz and Blues Festival.

The sell-out event was coordinated by Roger Robinson and Paddy McElhinney as a heartfelt tribute to the Limavady Jazz and Blues committee, whose dedication kept the much-loved festival running for 27 years.

More than 200 tickets were snapped up, and Roger spoke of his pride in seeing the community turn out in such numbers.

Following last year’s overwhelming response, organisers are optimistic that this year’s event will prove just as popular.

Funds raised go to The Olive Branch, a Northern Ireland charity delivering free professional counselling and mental health support.

With centres in Magherafelt, Coleraine and Ballymena, the organisation depends entirely on donations and fundraising events like ‘Marching into the Blues’ to maintain its essential services.

Organisers are encouraging local people to book for the event early, support a meaningful cause whilst enjoying another memorable day of live music.

Tickets cost £15 and are available from castawayevents.co.uk. More information can be found on the Castaway Events Facebook page.
