The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, officially launched the Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) 2026 programme, marking the start of a vibrant 17-day festival across the North West.

The diverse programme of events is designed to provide opportunities for the local community to learn and use the Irish language.
