A woman charged with assaulting her mother breached her bail for the fifth time by consuming alcohol.

Kelly Ann O'Kane (37) of Holly Lane in Derry appeared charged with breaching her bail by giving a breath test reading of 22mgs, the legal limit it to drive is 35mgs.

A police officer opposed bail stating this was the defendant's 5th breach and she added that while there had been no contact with the alleged injured party in the case police believed O'Kane would consume alcohol if released.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that it was a very low reading so obviously it was a very low quantity of alcohol.

He said the defendant lives in a healthcare environment so was well monitored.
