A man who is due to get married tomorrow (Saturday) was anxious to have his case dealt with at Derry Magistrates' Court today.
Don Winston Curry (39) of Primity Gardens in Derry was due to de sentenced for driving while unfit through drink or drugs and breaching a traffic sign on August 3 last year.
The court heard that Curry was observed going through a red light and was stopped.
He was tested for driving while unfit due to drink or drugs and tested positive for a class A drug.
Defence solicitor Jack Quigley said that his client was anxious for the case to be dealt with as he was getting married on Saturday.
He said that apparently the class A drug can stay in the system for 48 hours and Curry had taken the drug on a Friday night and was stopped on Sunday afternoon.
Curry was disqualified for 12 months and fined £150.
