Police in Derry City & Strabane have made a donation to a local charity following a forfeiture order granted by Derry Crown Court made following an investigation into the seizure of drugs and cash.
District Support Team Inspector Cathal Pearce said: “This was one of our cases that went through the Court. Controlled Class B drugs were seized during a vehicle stop in the Waterside area in October 2024, and a subsequent house search in the city when a further quantity of Class B controlled drugs and cash were seized.
“The Judge granted the Forfeiture Order we applied for and, as a result of this, we have been able to donate of £2,460 seized as part of the investigation to local charity HURT (Have Your Tomorrows)."
"We have no doubt the money will be used to support people who are vulnerable and in need of help.”
HURT supports young people in Derry, Limavady and Strabane who are dealing with alcohol and drug addiction.
