Derry Magistrate's Court

A Scottish woman detected driving at 106mph in a 70mph zone has been fined at Derry Magistrate's Court

Victoria Eliza Burrell (26) with an address at Lennox Drive in Clydebank in Scotland admitted the speed that occurred on December 28 last year.

The court heard that at approximately 10am on that date Burrell was detected driving at 106mph.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that his client realised she had placed herself in some jeopardy by the speed which he said the court would be concerned about.

He said that the defendant had received news her uncle was very seriously ill and was not paying attention to her speed in the circumstances.
