US resident banned from driving after three car crash on Moneymore Road

Suspended sentence for Donegal man at Derry Magistrate's Court

A resident of South Carolina in the United States has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with driving while unfit due to alcohol or drugs after a three car road traffic accident. 

Helen Tebeto (53) with a court address as Raloo Road in Larne admitted the offence that occurred on April 22.

The court heard police were called to a three car collision on the Moneymore Road and spoke to the defendant.

She was asked had she taken alcohol and said she had one beer prior to the accident. 

A breath test gave a reading of 77mgs more than twice the legal limit.

Defence counsel Sinead Rogan said that her client should be given credit for her guilty plea 

She said that the woman was alleged resident of South Carolina and was here visiting her mother.

The barrister said that thankfully it had not been a serious accident. 

Tebeto was disqualified from driving for 15 months and fined £250.
