Dylan Llewllyn, centre, plays Anthony Reavey.
Derry Girls star, Dylan Llewellyn, starring in a film telling the true story of one of the most horrific incidents during 'Troubles.'
The short film Reavey Brothers, will be screened at the Brunswick Moviebowl on Monday, February 21.
The 20-minute film is based on the true story of the Reavey Brothers killings.
On January 4, 1976, Anthony, John Martin and Brian Reavey, three brothers of eight, were sitting at home watching TV in their home in Co Armagh when three masked loyalist gunmen broke in and opened fire on them.
John and Brian were killed straight away, while Anthony managed to escape to the bedroom and take cover under a bed. He was shot several times and left for dead, after searching the house the gunmen found no one else and left.
Moments later badly wounded Anthony, crawled to a nearby neighbour's house to seek help. Sadly, Anthony died of a brain hemorrhage in hospital 26 days later. The film tells the story of the night leading up to the killings, the night of the killings and the devastating aftermath that they caused.
The film has been made with the complete blessing of the Reavey family and is written and directed by John Reavey, nephew of the three brothers.
Jamie Tarr, from the production team, said: “We do our best to tell the story the best we can, but to ensure that we’re able to do this, we do require some help.
“We ask if you could donate whatever you feel comfortable giving, just know that every penny contributed is a great help to getting this project produced.”
Dylan Llewllyn is best known for playing James Maguire in the hit comedy series Derry Girls.
He added: “Please do not worry if you can't donate as just even a share of this crowdfunding page on any social media helps to get this story told.”
As well as Llewellyn, the 20-minute film also stars Niall McNamee, Geraldine McAlinden and Kevin Nugent.
