The friends and family of Aidy Boddington, who sadly passed away in 2019, are hosting fundraising events in his memory.
A fundraising night is to be held this Friday (March 25) in the Cosh Bar on Buncrana Road with live music and raffle prizes to be won.
The family are also welcoming everyone to take part in a 10k walk next Wednesday (March 30). They are meeting at Sainsbury's at 10am and aim to walk the three bridges.
All proceeds from both events will be donated to Foyle Search and Rescue.
Aidy's family and friends hope to raise awareness for suicide prevention after they were left shattered by the loss of Aidy.
Aidy's daughter, Leah, was 19 years old when she lost her beloved father and is now training to be a mental health nurse.
"My daddy was the most kind and selfless man who would have done anything for anyone," Leah said.
"We want to celebrate his life and remember him for the amazing and kind hearted person he was.
"He was so well known throughout the town, not only for his quirky style, but for being a listening ear and shoulder to cry on for anyone who needed it.
"Suicide is such a prevalent issue in Derry at the minute and as a family we want to bring light to that by using all the proceeds from the charity remembrance night and the 10k sponsored walk to go to Foyle Search and Rescue.
"His passing has affected us as a family so deeply. I am so glad to have spent 19 beautiful years with my Daddy.
"His willingness to help others and sympathetic nature has shaped me to be the mental health nurse that I am today."
Everyone is invited to the event this Friday night with a £5 donation at the door.
Close friends, Debbie Lamberton and Elisa McGee, wanted to give a special thank you to Tony O'Connor for donating the venue and entertainment as well as a big thank you to everyone who donated to the raffle.
